I was going to post an illustration or a sketch commemorating the ten year anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001. I started doing some photo research to find reference material and I felt my ideas and concepts were too shallow, empty and cliché to do any justice to such an important day of remembrance. So instead of creating an image that would have seemed more like a gimmick, I chose not to draw anything all.
Like most folks I have very strong emotions associated with that day. I remember where I was, what I was doing, the feeling of helplessness. The feeling of solidarity with my fellow countrymen. Not only do I remember the acts of terror of that day but I am reminded of the evil that hates the United States of America. Evil that wants to kill my family and yours simply because we call ourselves Americans. We have a very special country. A shining city on a hill. An idea that all men are created equal and deserve the right to pursue their own happiness. It’s a beautiful idea that is not shared by all. We must be vigilant and protect such a precious notion.
God bless our military, police and firefighters.
